The BG-E2N battery grip replaces the B-E2. The improved grip is weather-resistant and intended to be matched with the weatherproof EOS-40D. The grip is also reverse compatible with the 30D and 20D. The battery grip can accept one or two BP-511 batteries to double the shooting capacity. The BG-E2N also accepts six AA batteries with an optional tray.
